I'm looking for a way to have my USB drive readable on both Win2k and
OSX, but preserve the OSX permission masks on the files. NTFS is,
unfortunately, unwritable by OSX 10.3.9 (which is what I'm using). I
haven't tried FAT32 yet, but if it's anything like the MS-DOS format
that Disk Utility offers, it won't preserve the OSX permission
information. Any ideas?

Thanks for the link, but I'd like to find a solution that doesn't
involve buying software, if possible.

You can format it in Linux EXT2 format.. OSX can read/write to it (if I
remember) and you can find a free software for windows that can let you
read/write EXT2 partition.. (I guess you can found it on sourceforge or
something like that)... If I found an exact link before someone else
does.. I'll post it...

Good luck

Disk image. Encrypted, too, if you expect any real security.
