Try repairing permissions.
For OS 10.2.x:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".
For OS 10.1.5:
Download the Repair Privileges utility, free from Apple, and run it:
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106900>
Run Disk First Aid. Instructions on how to run it in OS X are located on
the Apple Knowledge Base.
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214>
If none of that helps, you'll need to uninstall and reinstall Windows Media
Player. Delete the following files:
HD/Applications/Windows Media Player/
HD/Users/<Your User>/Library/Preferences/Windows Media Player Prefs
HD/Users/<Your User>/Library/Preferences/Windows Media Favorites
HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Windows Media Plugin/
Then, re-install using the Windows Media Player installer, which can be
found on the Office X CD or from this site:
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/download/misc/winmp_osx.asp>
If you have problems using the installer provided by Microsoft (some people
have had problems when it tries to install the Plug-in), use the one by Hugh
Schickel that the MVPs are hosting:
