[color=darkblue:cc4154afb3][/color:cc4154afb3] I had to experience the same. Contacted Hotmail support and received an email from a guy who had not read my request properly. The whole communications can be be described as slapstick only - see copy below....
I the meanwhile I have approached Microsoft product support as well where they confirmed that this is indeed something completely due to recent changes in HOTMAIL-servers. Apparently HOTMAIL has blocked the access of email via any email-client (or will subsequently continue with the ones that currently are still working) ON PURPOSE. They want to force their customers to either access their mail via a browser or pay extra fees to regrant access via an email-client. I regard this as an extremely unfriendly attitude towards the customer and will cancel my account by the end of this month, for this measure has not been withdrawn by then!
Recommend everyone who suffers from the same phenomen to do the same.
If you can't join them, beat them! >:-(

Dear sir/madam,
Thank you for your reply below. I understand that I need to describe my
problem more thoroughly:
I have been using my Hotmail-Account with an email-client (which is MS
Entourage 2001) for about four years now and for so far not experienced
major-problems. The last time that MSN has somehow changed the setup of the
servers was in autumn 2001 which then lead to the phenomenon described in
the MS-KB-article you find behind the following link
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;311217&Product=ent2001)
. As I am currently experiencing similar symptoms - just that it is not
Error 1500 but Error 1501 which is reported - I assume that this can only be
related tot changes that have applied to the server. This assumption is also
supported by the fact that first of all I have not changed anything in my
email-client, and second that my other hotmail-account still works without
any problem.
I am currently writing you by accessing the account via IE5.16 for Mac,
which of course does work, but which is also NOT the intentional way of
using it.
Kindly sort this out and let me know how MSN is planning to resolve this
issue.
Attached with this email you will find a screenshot to illustrate the
problem.
Once again thanks for your help and best regards
Wolf

Dear Wolf,
Thank you for writing to Hotmail Technical Support.
I apologize for the delay in responding to your message. Every message that Hotmail receives is very important. Unfortunately, we recently received an extremely high volume of e-mail messages and are working diligently to catch up.
I understand that you are getting "the server does not support this
request" while trying to access your Hotmail account.
The issue you have described is usually related to the browser you are
using, as you have mentioned that you are using Macintosh, I have
checked your account and is functioning properly that the issue you have described is not related to Hotmail. So, for further assistance, I
suggest you to contact the help associated with Macintosh.
I apologize that I could not be of much help to you in this regard.
Please write back to us, if you have any further queries regarding MSN
Hotmail. We will be glad to assist you.
Sincerely,
Praveen
MSN Hotmail Technical Support Representative

Dear sir/madam,
as of yesterday I am experiencing that my hotmail account from where I am sending this request no longer is available offline in my ENTOURAGE 2001. Instead of the folder list I receive an error 1501, http error, the server does not support this request. I am working on MacOS 9.2.2 NL and have not changed any setting. My other hotmail account which I have installed for receiving non-private email still works without any
problems. Kindly let me know, what I can to to fix this or what is going
on here.
Thanks very much and best regards
Wolf
