You need to hack the DVD drive firmware to convert it from a RPC2
(region sensitive) to and RPC1 drive (region free), but to do this you
need to find out _exactly_ what kind of DVD drive you have in your
mac: ie what model mac is it and what kind of drive you have, right
down to model an manufacturer.
"I have a combo drive in a G4" isn't enough information, you need to
find out if it's a Toshiba SD-R2212 drive from a 14" iBook late 2002.
If it's an older mac then the firmware hack may require OS9 to run (ie
booting into 9, not running classic) as my iBook did.
Once your firmware is hacked, you need a programme called Region,
which will allow you to manually switch between regions.

....and read everything. Twice. Interferring with drive firmware could
screw it up, so be sure you know what you are doing, but I managed to
fix my iBook DVD with no trouble.
