Post subject: slide show does not show full slide
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>mac>office>powerpoint (more info?)

I used Screen Catcher to capture full windows. I insert them into PP
and all is well. Each window is more than a screen in length. Each
individual slide works perfectly with a scroll bar that lets me see
the entire window. However when I run slide show all I get is the
middle third of the slide and no scroll bar. I have tried various
formats such as JPEG, GIF and Photoshop but no luck. I am still
running 9.2

I am trying to develop a demo from the windows captures for those time
when we can't be on-line. Can I do this with PP or another software
package.

Thanks

Al Galli

All versions of PPT behave the same way (except for some very early ones that
simply didn't allow you to put anything off the slide area.

PowerPoint will always crop to the slide area during a screenshow.
You'll need to scale your inserted screenshots down to fit them within the
slide area.

Hi Al,

Screen shot pictures are larger than the working space on the slide
workspace when you are in normal view in PowerPoint.

PowerPoint lets you put a bigger picture there, but as you have seen,
when you run the show all you see is the portion that was positioned
over the slide area.

There's an easy way to fix this manually. Insert the picture, then
control-click on the picture. Choose "Format Picture" from the pop-up
menu. In the dialog box click the Size tab. In the middle of the dialog
box click the checkbox next to "Best scale for slide show." Leave the
resolution at "current screen size" then click OK.

The picture should automatically scale to fit the PowerPoint window.

If you are going to be doing a lot of this kind of thing it might be
worthwhile to purchase the add-in that I wrote (shameless plug here). It
automatically scales pictures to perfectly fit the PowerPoint window as
you import them from files. Here's information about the add-in:

You can also use a visual basic macro to perform the scaling. I used the
code sample at this URL as the basis for my add-in but my add-in is
quite a bit more complicated than this sample:

I hope this helps you get going on your project.
