Anyone had success with a Moviebox Deluxe

I occasionally need to transfer footage from a camcorder/VCR, identify
suitable clips and then burn the clips to DVD. In the past I've done with
a PC (yuck) and a Pinnacle MovieBox Deluxe. The PC has gone; replaced with
a MacBook Pro. Before I go out and buy another video capture device I
wondered if the MovieBox Deluxe would work. Initial tests suggest not. :-(
Whether a USB or Firewire cable is used the box doesn't appear as a device
on the MacBook.

I've seen some posts from people using a MovieBox DV with success. Has
anyone gotten a MovieBox Deluxe to work with out-of-the-box OS X? If so
how?

The clips are of me working as a sign language interpreter and will be
used to assess my professional practice. Not interested in making a movie
master pice. So I do not need the sophistication of Final Cut and its
like. iMovie/iDVD are sufficent for my needs.
