Post subject: synchronization setting of a portable MTP player with WMP 10
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsmedia>player>mac (more info?)

I got a small MP3 player (a portable "MTP player" in Windows terms as it was
recognized by Windows XP).
First I loaded the MP3 player with songs (without any knowledge about what
synchronization is - so the memory of the MP3 player was loaded with songs
without my interuption and ant intentional control). They played well on the
portable devices. However, these songs are not all I liked.

Now, I want to "delete" all of the loaded songs and "reload" the MP3 player
with only the songs I like. When I connected the MP3 player to my PC (Windows
XP with SP2), I selected Windows Media Player (WMP) as my sychronization
host, and then I chose "set up synch" button. In the first appeared panel, I
selected "automatic" synchronization with "customize the playlists that will
be synchronized" check-marked.
In next panel, I selected "delete all content fron the device before
synchronization for the first time".
In next panel, I check-marked the playlist I want to input to my portable
MP3 player. Then I hit "Finish".

No matter how I varied the above procedures, I ALWAYS got the following panel:

"Window Media Player:
Window Media Player cannot modify the synchronizatiom setting at this time.
Try again later."

I have tried again and again for at least 20 times, but it always returned
with the same message. What goes wrong? Could someone knowledgeable please
help me resolve this problem : ) What does "try again later" mean?

Hum.... this is the newsgroup for WMP for Mac...... You should probably
repost in the regular WMP group :-)

Yea, the user interface on the web page is not all that clear. THat
happens very often too in the Mac IE group.
That's (partially) one of the reasons why I'd rather use an nntp
(newsgroup) client instead of the web-interface.

It's no big deal IMVHO, but I thought you had to be warned that you were
unlikely to get a good reply here :-)

Well I use nntp (news) to get there.
I would guess that for your problem you need
nntp://microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player

(or the group with the same name in a web interface on either Google or
the MS site - they all end-up on the same server anyway).
